About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Child Care Assistant to join our team on a permanent part-time basis. In this role, you will contribute to creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for young children, supporting their development through structured play and meaningful interactions.
Our programs are designed to be both fun and educational, helping children to build confidence, independence and self-esteem in a caring and inclusive setting.
The Hutchins School Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program is open year-round. Before School and After School Care programs are offered during school terms. Vacation Care operates throughout all school holiday periods.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key accountabilities
Assist in planning, preparation and conduct of program activities.
Supervise and support children both on school grounds and during excursions.
Provide respectful care with personal hygiene tasks (e.g. sunscreen application, hand washing, toileting, nappy change).
Prepare and serve food in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
Maintain a clean, hygienic and welcoming environment in the kitchen and rooms.
Foster positive and respectful relationships with children and their families.
Attend regular staff meetings and make a positive contribution to the operations of the OSHC.
Attend professional development and learning as required.
Administration and other duties as required.
To be successful in this role you will:
Essential
Demonstrate ability to relate to and successfully engage with young children.
Demonstrate ability to follow standard procedures and protocols with the ability to escalate matters of concern in an appropriate and timely manner.
Hold a current first aid qualification such as Apply First Aid.
Demonstrate ability to work productively and collaboratively with others in a small team environment.
Desirable
Have experience working with children.
Hold the knowledge of the standards and regulations that apply to the child care industry.
Hold a relevant child care, educational support or education qualification under the Australian Qualifications Framework, or progress toward such a qualification.
Hold a current Provide First Aid in an Education and Care Setting qualification.
